Joseph M. Jarvis
Joe Jarvis is a lawyer passionate about business law. Since 2013 he has operated a boutique law practice focused on helping small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs in and around Lawrence, Kan. Before founding his practice, he worked as a corporate finance and securities associate with AmLaw 100 law firm Polsinelli PC in Kansas City, Mo.
Jarvis’s experience includes work with limited liability companies, corporations, partnerships, and other entities; purchase and sale of businesses; private financing, including private promissory notes and private securities offerings; contract drafting and review; commercial lease agreement review; employment and independent contractor agreements; corporate and board governance; trademarks and intellectual property licensing; and securities compliance. In addition to general corporate and securities experience, he has also helped clients in the banking, insurance, and commercial real estate sectors.
Jarvis co-authored H.B. 2398, a Kansas Bar Association–sponsored bill enacted in 2014, which was the last major update to the Kansas Revised Limited Liability Company Act (KRLLCA).
Before becoming an attorney, Jarvis had government and political experience working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, a successful U.S. congressional campaign, the office of Kansas’s lieutenant governor, and the office of Lawrence’s city manager.
